Lovecraft isn't famous for his female characters. They are few and always ugly/retarded/discriminated.

Asenath Waite is quite good looking (except for the bulging eyes), but she's 'not a man' as stated by Ephraim himself and so her magical skills are less efficient than those of a male specimen. The fact that she's a deep-one half breed is secondary. Her big problem is being female.
Lavinia is albino and almost deformed. Despite her crucial role in 'The Dunwich Horror' she doesn't deserve a single praise, not even from his son who end up killing her. I understand that Wilbur is the horrendous spawn of an Outer God and all he wants is to bring doom upon mankind, but he actually seems to care for his grandfather. So why not for Lavinia? Isn't she involved in their evil plan as well? Of course not, she's a goddamn useless woman! Let's just kill her off the story.
What about... Marceline? Do I really have to say something about her? She's probably the most kick-ass character in the mythos: a powerful and merciless priestess of Great Cthulhu himself! And she's pretty good looking too! It seems too good to be true..! Ah, ok. Her issue is being mulatto. Poor thing.
