You know, in musical is common practice to insert the main song of the female character at the beginning of first act. A blatant example could be 'I dream a dream' from Les Mis, but also 'Part of your world' from Little Mermaid covers the same space in the plot. The public learn who the character really is and is supposed to get fond of her, since she reveals her past and her dreams for the future. Mmmh, why am I talking about this stuff anyway? Well, because almost all I know about storyboarding came from musicals (both old Disney movies and theatre shows) and Andrew Lloyd Webber is probably my favourite person on this planet alongside HPL.
Digressions aside, it isn't' my intention to make you feel sympathetic to Mrs. Phillips. Actually, I just want to say that Howard's grandpartents were absolutely gorgeous ! Whipple was a successfull busisnessman AND an estimator of gothic fiction, while Alzada was an astronomer, a woman of science *^*!  I'm sure Sarah was adopted. There can be no other explanation D:
A common misconception about HPL is that was the death of the father to deeply traumatize him, but actually was that of his grandparents. The strict bond between Howard and Whipple is clearly expressed in many of his tales featuring a nephew-grandfather (sometimes uncle) duo of protagonists. 'The Silver Key' is a good example, as well as 'The Shunned House' where the protagonist's uncle is named Elihu Whipple.

Speaking of Mr.Whipple Phillips, I also want to inform you that the information I give in the comic about his death is incorrect. Lovely Lovecraft is set in 1902, when the good old fellow was still alive. I DELIBERATELY anticipated his death for the sake of the plot U_U
