:icondonotuseplz::iconmyartplz: READ PLZ! And be ready for my crappy english! :saddummy:

Sooooooooo this will be mah project for 2013! Lovely Lovecraft Also known as "how to fill your own portfolio transforming obnoxious orrors into adorable peluches and nevrotic beanpoles" will be my first comic. I never draw one in my entire life, but it's never too late to begin!
H.P. Lovecraft has always been one of my favoutire authors, I read all his stories, novels, essays and even a lot of his private letters (I'm nosy, I know XD!). I used to devoured entire stories before go to sleep and many MANY times I stopped only because the church bells announced midnight.
I'm fascinating by his twisted reality, where danger hides beneath every single old and rotten house and thinkerers, artists and dreamers are the chosen ones, heroes or (most of the times) victims. Facing our inner fears to defeat them is an approach that I particularly appreciate since I was a child and spent my days dipped in scary movies and dark stories (E.T.A Hoffmann's Nachtstücke has been my own unapproachable Necronomicon for years. Cause of my young age, the librarian didn't want to give it to me on loan).
Most of my previous works have been influenced by Lovecraft writing, and even my recent characters wear his "mark" (for example, Alkazzar's surname is Alhazred)
Anyway, coming back to the gist... Lovely Lovecraft (blame Lavinia Whateley for the silly title!) will be a comic about an adventurous (and I hope, less desolating) version of Howard's childhood where he met all the characters from his own stories. I will take his real life as ispiration but nothing more.
Did you ever played "Eternal Sonata"? It's a japanese RPG about the life of Frederic Chopin. The game itself was, in a word, bad, but I still think that the idea is something great: make a fantasy/kid-friendly version of the lives of famous people. That's what I'm going to do.
...in my style, of course. And beware, my idea of "kid-friendly" is highly different from what you may think eheheh.

Let me know what you think! :°D The project sounds interesting? Do you like the characters? Are they appealing? (please, IGNORE That old and crappy version of Randolph! He looks exactly like Milo from Atlantis XD)

Well... Lovecraft's tales are a good example. He speaks of madness, demons and horrors, but he did it in such a sumptuous and fascinating way that readers like them and want to read more. Another silly example may be a Tarantino movie: violence is wrong, but hey... that's entertaining! XD

mmmh but if it is taking in a context of entertainment then as we have come to state in society, violence pass as an acceptable thing thus not being wrong, as long as it is defined as a fictitious work, that can be as a by-moral standard to disguise the fact that as humans we tend to enjoy things that can very well become inconvenient to maintain an state of correlation.

but putting that aside what i was trying to point is that the paradox of something wrong feeling good is more of a contradiction, the example of violence in media is perfect to show this.

anyway, going back to your work, don't get me wrong it looks good and all, it is just that seeing the horrors in such fluffy ways is so awkwardly weird... if i have to use a simile to describe the feeling... it would be like choking some one to death using a pink teddy bear who is also sporting a rainbow mane that smells like berries... yes i visualize that image and i then try to analyze it... yet i wonder why the hell it bothers me more the fact that such an unusual flashy not-threatening tool is being used rather than all the other things on it. yes i guess this sums the intention of my comment, you cant help but think that something is off.
