Not going to lie. I used to love Tim Burton's stuff to death.
Nightmare before Christmas is the first movie I remember, Jack was my first crush (let's face it, girls: who was NOT in love with Jack?) and the gothic aestethic my first source of inspiration.
This movie also taught me that good characters are DEEP characters, those that you get to know, those whom the script writers want you to care for. There are 4 songs (F-O-U-R friggin' S-O-N-G-S!) dedicated only to Jack's development.

Needles to say that when Corpse Bride came out, I was utterly excited. I remember spending evenings in front of the TV hoping to catch a new trailer or any Tim Burton's interview from the Venice Film Festival where the movie premiered in 2005.
And you know what? I liked it a lot. CB wasn't as perfect as NBC is (Nightmare IS perfect. Deal with it! XD) but still visually stunning, entertaining and heart-warming.

That's probably why I can't stand Burton's movies anymore. He spoiled and delighted me for a decade and then... Alice in Wonderland.
And then... Dark Shadows.
And then... Frankenweenie. <-- NO, I didn't like that one either!
And then... enough.
Big Eyes came out but I refused to throw my money away. I haven't seen the movie yet and probably never going to. I even heard that a sequel to Alice is coming.
AND I CRINGE AT THE MERE THOUGHT.

This 'decline' really makes me sad, but I would never stop loving what the previous movies gave me: laughs, tears and ideas of my own. I owe Burton so much, and that will never change.
